Just couldn’t resist this.  A May bug on the blackcurrants on the first of May!

    • They are not very good for the garden, Melolontha melolontha, you may call them something else in the States. The adults eat the plant leaves and we find the white grubs in the soil where they feed on the roots of plants while they mature. I was just fascinated seeing it on the first of May when we call it a May bug.

      • I can see why you were fascinated. The ugly bugs draw me in that way. Hate them / love them, strictly from a ‘non-gardening’ point of view.
